Gateway's Langley City casino with the 77-room Coast hotel alongside. ATLAS does a solid steak, the casino runs 24 hours and parking is free — but there's no pool and no theatre.

SuitsSteak dinner and a few hours of gaming in the Fraser Valley.
Pass ifA pool or a show is on your list — Cascades has neither.

01Casino plus Coast hotel

Cascades opened in Langley City in May 2005 under Gateway Casinos. The adjoining Coast Langley City Hotel & Convention Centre renovated its 77 rooms in 2018. Room types: Coast Two Queens, Coast King, corner Queen with sofa bed, accessible Queen with roll-in shower, Hospitality Suite (wet bar), Executive Suite (balcony).

02Gaming

An 80,000 sq ft floor never closes; besides 1,000-plus slots it runs bingo, poker, roulette and blackjack. There is no showroom any more: the 420-seat Summit Theatre was converted for bingo in 2018.

03Food

ATLAS steak + fish is Gateway's flagship restaurant brand. Match Eatery & Public House books live music and DJs; The Breakfast Room serves the hotel; Sunday brunch (buffet) takes over the convention ballroom from 11 am. Glacier Bar hours run 11 am–2 am.

04Logistics

No swimming pool — the hotel says so plainly — but a 24-hour gym. Check-in 3 pm, checkout noon. Free parking. Pets with pre-approval: $25 a night for one, $40 for two. YVR is roughly an hour's drive, Abbotsford airport half an hour; Nearby sights: Fort Langley, plus the Greater Vancouver Zoo.

05Verdict on file

A dependable local casino with a tidy small hotel. Not a rival to the top-ten resorts, and not trying to be.
