Casino resorts for a family trip — the shortlist
File date · sources re-read
A family trip to a casino hotel works better than you might think: age limits apply to the floor and a few bars, not the whole building. What changes is how much is laid on for kids — and, in one case, whether they're allowed through the door. Our picks, best first:
- 01
River Cree Resort & Casino B(80.5/100)
Minors with an adult may go anywhere outside the gaming areas (since July 29, 2024). Two NHL-size rinks with public skates, pool and whirlpool, a Luxury Family Suite, a free shuttle to West Edmonton Mall five minutes away: Canada's most kid-friendly casino resort.
- 02
Fallsview Casino Resort A+(92.8/100)
Only the casino is 19+; children are fine everywhere else. Pool rule: under-12s with a parent. Within reach: Bird Kingdom, the Butterfly Conservatory, Clifton Hill. Waking up to the falls is half the fun.
- 03
Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto A−(87.8/100)
A guest aged 19+ books and the kids stay too. The 2-Bedroom Suite (fridge, microwave) sleeps six, there's a hot tub by the pool, and most days you can watch the Woodbine races next door for free.
- 04
River Rock Casino Resort B+(84.3/100)
Water slide, several restaurants flagged as all-ages, and the Canada Line into Vancouver. One catch: the adult checking in must be 19+.
- 05
Casino New Brunswick C+(72.3/100)
Children stay with an adult; pool time for under-12s is supervised. Magnetic Hill and its zoo plus Hopewell Rocks make Moncton an easy family stop.
- 06
Grey Eagle Resort & Casino B−(77.0/100)
Family-pitched Standard Two Queen rooms; an Event Centre that admits every age; the Calgary Zoo and Heritage Park a short drive off. The pool's closed for works, but guests get free city-pool passes.
Not with the kids
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa admits nobody under 19 — anywhere, hotel and restaurants included. Caesars Windsor calls its Augustus Tower family-friendly and runs all-ages Colosseum shows, but the pool is strictly for adults.
